Belotero 101

In the world of injections, it seems like your options are innumerable. Sure, you can certainly leave the discretion solely up to your board certified plastic surgeon, but there is always power in knowledge and understanding.

Belotero Balance is one type of facial filler that is used to temporarily smooth out and fill in folds or wrinkles often found from the side of the nose and corners of the mouth, as well as under the eyes to improve the appearance of dark circles and puffiness. Belotero is actually considered one of the “lightest” dermal fillers available and is often referred to as the “starter filler” because it’s primary purpose is really to address minor lines – not to correct severe signs of aging.

Comprised of hyaluronic acid (HA), Belotero actually has the ability to bind with the skin’s own water since HA is a natural component of the dermis.

Of course, the extent to which Belotero lasts is situational and based on the patient, but typically results last for about four to six months after injections are made. For best results, you should expect to have Belotero injections at least twice a year to make sure you achieve and maintain the look of smooth and wrinkle free skin.

After a Belotero injection, there is little to no down time. Most people return to their normal daily routine directly after the injections.

There are a few primary differences between Belotero and other fillers. For example, when compared to Juvederm, Belotero is not as useful for trying to add volume to areas of the face. Juvederm can be injected deeper into the skin and actually works better for patients who want to achieve the effect of volume in areas like the cheeks. Belotero is significantly different from Restylane as well. Many experts believe Belotero is better than Restylane when it comes to fine line reduction because it has the ability to be layered easily.
