The Tweakment Era

With the advancement of new procedures and tools, changing your appearance is easier now than it has ever been before. Gone are the days of extensive planning for cosmetic surgery. There are now alternatives to full facelifts with far less downtime and immediate results. The term “cosmetic procedure” is no longer indicative of general anesthesia, surgery centers, and and going under the knife, but could be as simple as visiting your facial plastic surgeon in an afternoon, possibly even during your lunch break. Achieving that fresh-faced look that we all strive for is no longer easier said than done because we now live in the world of the Tweakment.

The Tweakment is just a term for any alternative to a full, more invasive cosmetic surgery procedure. Usually, in these cases, injectables are what is being referenced because they are quick, easy procedures with significant impacts that leave no scarring and require no downtime. The British Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons (BAPPS) actually reported a 40 percent decrease in full cosmetic operations like neck and facelifts last year partially due to the popularity of these smaller, less invasive procedures.

One of the most popular Tweakments is “Baby Botox,” or tiny doses of Botox injected in areas like the forehead and eyes where visible lines can be reduced.

Another round of products that have become increasingly popular during the age of the Tweakment are creams like retinoids, that help create clearer, softer, and brighter skin. There are over-the-counter and prescribed versions of these creams but it is always important to consult a doctor either way.

Hair transplants have become increasingly more popular during this era as well. While this might not be the fastest procedure, hair transplants can truly turn back the hands of time for people who have grown self-conscious about their changing hairline. Unbeknownst to many, there are actually both surgical and non-surgical ways to address receding or changing hairlines.

Of course, facelifts and major cosmetic surgery procedures aren’t always avoidable and can certainly be the best solution for an aging face. But in cases where tweakments are applicable, they can produce fantastic outcome in comparison to surgical procedures from a cost and results perspective.
