What is Jeuveau (Newtox) and How is it Different From Botox?

Updated: Apr 15, 2021

Move over Botox, there’s a new kid on the block.

Newtox, officially called Jeuveau, is a neurotoxin (aka neuromodulator), very similar to Botox, Dysport or Xeomin.

Developed specifically for cosmetic treatments, Jeuveau is a purified botulinum toxin formula used primarily to improve the appearance of moderate to severe wrinkles in adults.

Doctor Jean Paul Azzi has used all four types of neurotoxin injectables at his Palm Beach plastic surgery office and explains that these injections ultimately stop the movement of muscles in the face, which in turn, soften lines and wrinkles like magic.

“All of these neuromodulators act in the same manner to reduce wrinkles on the face,” says Dr. Azzi. “They are mostly used for the forehead lines, the glabella lines that look like ‘11s’ between the eyes, and for the crow's feet. If injected properly by an expert facial plastic surgeon, one can even achieve a ‘liquid’ brow lift simultaneously. Newtox is an exciting formula that is designed to last longer than Botox, Xeomin or Dysport.”

Jeuveau is FDA approved and passed two clinical double-blind placebo trials in the United States.

While the injectable is very similar to Botox, there are quite a few differences as well.

Formulation

Much like Botox, Jeuveau is a neuromodulator extracted from the same type of bacteria as Botox. But while Botox and Jeuveau are composed of the same ingredients, the formulation is different. Jeuveau’s “Hi-Pure” technology removes dangerous proteins and helps with absorption, making the product potentially safer.

Treatment Areas

Currently, Botox is FDA approved for more treatment areas than Jeuveau. In addition to facial treatments, Botox is also used to treat other medical conditions like migraines, hyperhidrosis, neck spasms, overactive bladder, lazy eye, and more. Jeuveau is approved for cosmetic purposes only.

How Long Results Last

Additionally, Jeuveau can last up to six months while other injectables that address the same areas typically only last for between three and four months.
