Facial plastic surgery can be intimidating for many people. But if the thought of surgery scares you, there are many non-surgical options available. These options are increasingly popular because they are fast, easy and less expensive than surgical procedures. There is generally no recovery process or down time and they can be done during your lunch break! Here are a few of the most commonly performed nonsurgical procedures at The Palm Beach Center for Facial Plastic & Laser Surgery.
BOTOX®, Xeomin and Dysport are all neuromodulators which help prevent and reduce the risk of wrinkles. Neuromodulators target the underlying causes of frown lines, crow’s feet and other wrinkles by temporarily preventing the movement of facial muscles. This reduction in muscle activity subsequently prevents the creation of lines between and around the eyes and on the forehead. If done properly, a “Liquid Brow Lift” can also be achieved simultaneously. More on that below.
Brow Lift
A “Chemical” or “Liquid Brow Lift” repositions low or sagging eyebrows to an elevated, more youthful and alert position with no surgery at all. Dr. Azzi prefers to use Xeomin because it has no additives or preservatives that may cause reactions, but also uses Botox. In many cases, patients will try a liquid brow lift as a way of trying out a new look before proceeding with a more permanent surgical brow lift. The notion of lifting the brows and noticeably improving the appearance of wrinkles, specifically on the forehead, between the brows and around the eyes, is very appealing to men and women in their 20s and beyond. During a consultation, Dr. Azzi will discuss the best technique (or combination of techniques) that will benefit the individual and their particular facial features.
Lip Fillers
Everybody loves full, sexy, youthful looking lips. Whether you’re looking for a subtle accent to reduce wrinkles along the lip edges or a complete lip transformation, Dr. Azzi knows exactly what it takes to make your lips look fantastic. When it comes to lip fillers, Dr. Azzi prefers Juvederm products as well as Belotero and some Restylane products.

Melolabial Folds & Nasolabial Fold
Over time, lines begin to develop at the edges of the nostrils stretching down toward the mouth and below. These creases are known as nasolabial folds, melolabial folds, laugh lines, smile lines and marionette lines. These lines make the face look droopy and older, and for that reason, this area is a common area for filler placement. Dr. Azzi prefers to use Radiesse in this area because it lasts longer and fills a lot of volume, making it one of the most cost effective options.
Cheek & Midface
As we age, fat loss, skeletal changes, and collagen depletion will begin to flatten our cheeks. Depending upon each patient’s personal goals and facial characteristics, Dr. Azzi will give the cheeks a smooth curve or a more defined ‘apple’ effect using dermal fillers. He prefers Radiesse in this area of the face to create a heart shape to the face and “lift” the cheeks. This is one of Dr. Azzi’s favorite places to inject fillers because of the beautiful heart shape face it creates.
Under eyes / Tear Trough
Patients call Dr. Azzi a miracle worker when it comes to waking up the eye area. He uses fillers to plump the hollows under the eyes. He uses only Hyaluronic Acid (HA) fillers like Belotero and Restylane because they are thin and clear. Hyaluronic acid is found naturally in your skin but it diminishes as you age. Because it’s naturally in your skin, HA fillers are safe and effective at adding volume and smoothing out the skin’s surface.
Liquid Rhinoplasty (Nose Job)
Many people are unhappy with the shape or proportions of their nose but aren’t quite ready for rhinoplasty surgery. These folks are perfect candidates for a “Liquid Nose Job.” Dr. Azzi uses dermal fillers to contour the shape of the nose and improve the patient’s profile. Many patients call this the “Lunch Break Nose Job” because it only takes 5 -10 minutes.
Dr. Azzi said, “I use Belotero for liquid rhinoplasty because of its amazing, instant results.”
Pre-Jowl Sulcus
A little known area of the face that can make a big difference in the appearance is the pre-jowl fold sulcus or the pre-jowl fold area, the areas on either side of the chin. Facial volume loss associated with the aging process results in sagging skin in many facial areas, but leaves the pre-jowl fold area hollow. Fillers can help restore lost volume and minimize the appearance of facial lines, wrinkles, and folds. Results have been clinically proven to last a year or more in the majority of patients.
Dr. Azzi said, “I use Radiesse in the Pre-Jowl Sulcus to create an illusion of improved jowls just like a facelift would do.”
Neck Creases
Lines, bands and creases in the neck are tell tale signs of aging. This happens when the skin begins to lose its elasticity and natural collagen production is reduced. It’s becoming more and more common in younger patients because of the time spent looking down at cell phones or laptops. Dermal fillers can be used to diminish the appearance of horizontal lines in the neck area. Dr. Azzi prefers to use Xeomin in the vertical neck bands to help soften them.
Sometimes called Fat Transfer, Fat Grafting is a gentle fat harvesting method, purification process, and micro-droplet injection technique. It involves removing fat from one’s own abdomen and injecting it into specific facial regions. The fat is injected as tiny little droplets into the areas of facial hollowness.
Dr. Azzi commented, “There are many advantages of fat grafting over using dermal fillers. The most practical is for someone who has a ‘gaunt’ appearance and needs a lot of volume. This can be financially impractical using dermal fillers if many syringes need to be opened. Another advantage is the fact that, if done properly, a significant percentage of the fat transferred can have a permanent take. It essentially becomes part of the face.”
Volume loss is generally more pronounced around the mouth, eyes, cheeks and jawline, and for that reason, fat grafting is most common in these areas. It is often combined with a comprehensive facial rejuvenation plan which may include a facelift, mid-facelift or blepharoplasty (eyelid lift).
