Pay Attention to Your Neck
As we age, it’s common for us to become more and more self-conscious. Things just don’t look like they used to. The neck in particular is an area that people tend to start paying attention to as they age because it tends to change the most. Additionally, the skin on the neck tends to be very dry because the neck has fewer sebaceous glands. These are super tiny glands that secrete an oily or waxy substance. Moisturized skin tends to have a glowy look to it and a youthful sheen.
There are also certain movements that you can do that affect the neck’s elasticity over time. If you are constantly stretching out your neck, or exercising your facial features, these movements over time have the ability to stretch out the lines of the neck! This type of stretching obviously creates a more aged appearance.
Since the skin on the neck is so dramatically different from skin on the rest of the body, it needs to be treated differently. Of course, the most obvious first step for neck care is to moisturize. Neck creams help provide the skin on the neck with moisture and collagen to help keep the skin as firm as possible. These creams are known to be slightly thicker than face moisturizers, but for good reason.
It’s also a good idea to apply sunscreen to your neck daily. The sun can do some serious damage. Then there are the exercises you can do for your neck that promote tighter skin. Some yoga studios teach this kind of stretching. It’s important you learn theses neck exercises from a professional so you don’t accidentally strain yourself.
